Job description

• Permanent position for Optical Fiber Laser Scientist for a manufacturing company that serves the medical, industrial, aerospace and telecommunications fields.
• Primary responsibilities will include: Conduct research and analyze data related to high power fiber lasers and telecommunications components.
• Design, execute and analyze experiments to improve performance of optical fiber lasers and amplifiers.
• Work with optical fiber fabrication team to provide input on improved fiber designs.
• Interface with teams developing fiber laser components such as optical fibers, fiber Bragg gratings, and fiber coatings to ensure complete design solutions for fiber laser systems.
• Characterize glass, fibers, and coatings, and devise methods to identify and solve technical problems.
• Perform other technical support as required.
• MS or PhD degree in Optics, Physics or related field.
• Experience in handling, characterizing and performing data analysis on optical fibers.
• Experience with high-power fiber lasers and components, such as fiber Bragg gratings is highly desired.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills as vedenced by past publications and presentations.
