Job summary

Mason Technologies is seeking experienced Fiber Installation / Splicing Technicians to join our growing field team. We focus on inside-plants in commercial buildings, network rooms, MDFs, IDFs, and data centers. We emphasize hands-on fiber experience and quality workmanship.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years of hands-on fiber optic experience, proficiency with fusion, ribbon, and mechanical splicing, and the ability to travel across the Tri-State Area. OSHA and SST certifications are required.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional fiber optic installation and splicing experience preferred.
• Hands-on experience with inside-plant fiber optic systems.
• Experience with multiple splicing methods: fusion, ribbon, and mechanical.
• Experience in data centers, MDFs, IDFs, telecom rooms or commercial environments.
• OSHA and SST certifications required.
• Reliable personal vehicle required.
• Willingness to travel across the Tri-State Area.

Responsibilities

• Install, route, terminate, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber in commercial buildings, network rooms, telecom rooms, MDFs, IDFs, and data centers
• Perform fusion, ribbon, and mechanical splicing of single‑mode and multimode fiber
• Prepare, splice, terminate, and organize fiber within fiber enclosures, splice trays, patch panels, LIUs, and optical distribution frames
• Perform fiber optical connectorization and termination using various connector types and methods
• Conduct fiber testing and certification using OTDRs, optical power meters, light sources, and VFLs
• Analyze test results and identify fiber loss, reflections, breaks, contamination, and other issues
• Perform fiber troubleshooting, repair, and remediation
• Travel between project sites throughout the Tri-State Area as required
• Follow project specs, manufacturer requirements, and industry standards
• Maintain labeling, documentation, test results, and as-built information
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment

Position Overview

Mason Technologies is seeking experienced Fiber Installation / Splicing Technicians to join our growing field team. We are looking for technicians with 4+ years of hands‑on commercial fiber optic experience , with a strong background in inside‑plant fiber installation, termination, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting .

This position focuses primarily on fiber optic work within commercial buildings, network rooms, MDFs, IDFs, telecom rooms, and data centers , rather than outside plant (OSP) construction. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience working with multiple fiber splicing methods, including fusion splicing, ribbon splicing, and mechanical splicing , as well as fiber termination, testing, certification, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled and detail‑oriented technician who takes pride in quality workmanship, understands fiber optic standards and practices, and can work independently or as part of a larger project team.

Responsibilities

• Install, route, terminate, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cabling in commercial buildings, network rooms, telecom rooms, MDFs, IDFs, and data centers
• Perform fusion, ribbon, and mechanical splicing of single‑mode and multimode fiber
• Prepare, splice, terminate, and organize fiber within fiber enclosures, splice trays, patch panels, LIUs, and optical distribution frames
• Perform fiber optical connectorization and termination using various connector types and methods
• Conduct fiber testing and certification using OTDRs, optical power meters, light sources, and VFLs
• Analyze test results and identify fiber loss, reflections, breaks, contamination, and other issues
• Perform fiber troubleshooting, repair, and remediation
• Properly clean, inspect, dress, route, and manage fiber optic cabling
• Install fiber pathways, cable tray, J‑hooks, innerduct, sleeves, and other supporting infrastructure
• Read and interpret drawings, fiber schedules, splice diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and project documentation
• Maintain proper fiber bend radius, slack storage, labeling, and cable management practices
• Identify and resolve installation issues in the field
• Follow project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and industry installation standards
• Maintain accurate labeling, documentation, test results, and as‑built information
• Work independently or as part of a larger fiber installation team
• Communicate effectively with Project Managers, Foremen, Engineers, and other technicians
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Follow all company and job‑site safety requirements
• Travel between project sites throughout the Tri‑State Area as required

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional fiber optic installation and splicing experience preferred
• Strong hands‑on experience with inside‑plant fiber optic systems
• Demonstrated experience performing multiple fiber splicing methods, including:
• Mechanical Splicing
• Experience with both single‑mode and multimode fiber
• Experience terminating fiber and working with fiber patch panels, LIUs, splice trays, fiber enclosures, and ODFs
• Experience performing fiber testing and certification using OTDRs, optical power meters, light sources, and VFLs
• Ability to interpret OTDR traces and troubleshoot fiber faults
• Experience working in data centers, MDFs, IDFs, telecom rooms, network rooms, or other commercial environments
• Ability to read and understand fiber optic drawings, splice diagrams, cable schedules, and project documentation
• Knowledge of proper fiber cleaning, inspection, handling, routing, and bend‑radius requirements
• Ability to use common hand and power tools and specialized fiber optic equipment
• Strong attention to detail and quality of workmanship
• OSHA and SST certifications required
• Reliable personal vehicle required
• Ability and willingness to travel to multiple job sites throughout the Tri‑State Area
• Ability to work safely on ladders, lifts, and in active construction environments
