Job summary

UNDERWAY FIBERAXIS LLC in Florida is seeking an experienced HDD Locator to join our underground fiber construction team. You will locate and track drill heads, provide depth and direction data, and maintain safe, productive bore paths on active projects across the state.

Ideal candidates have prior HDD/Directional Drill locator experience, knowledge of Digitrak locating systems, and the ability to read construction prints and utility maps.

Qualifications

• Previous HDD locator experience required.
• Experience with underground utility/fiber construction.
• Ability to read construction prints and utility markings.
• Understanding of depth, pitch, direction, and bore-path calculations.

Responsibilities

• Locate and track the drill head during HDD operations.
• Provide accurate depth, pitch, direction, and steering information to the drill operator.
• Maintain communication with the HDD operator throughout each bore.
• Assist in planning safe and efficient bore paths.
• Read and understand construction prints and project specifications.
• Identify and account for existing underground utilities during drilling.
• Assist with potholing and exposing utilities when required.
• Ensure bore path remains within approved depths and routes.
• Verify completed bore meets project requirements before product installation.
• Document completed footage and report production data to supervisors.
