Job summary

Intrepid Fiber is seeking a FiberToTheHome Network Technician to maintain and repair the FTTH network from the OTL cabinet to passive devices, including PON nodes and power supplies. You will troubleshoot, assist with construction, and support network architectures while ensuring safety and service quality.

The role requires experience with OTDR, field operations, and the ability to work with third-party teams.

Qualifications

  • Experience with FTTH networks and field maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents (network diagrams/as-builts).
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check.
  • Willingness to travel locally to project sites.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair FTTH network from OTL cabinet to passive devices.
  • Troubleshoot network outages and perform restoration activities.
  • Support outside plant, fiber optics, and telecom architectures.
  • Install, test, and commission network equipment.
  • Coordinate with third-party partners for oversight and restoration.
  • Respond to after-hours network incidents; ensure service reliability.

The FiberToTheHome Network Technician is responsible formaintainingand repairing all aspects of the fiber network from the OTL cabinet to the passive network devices,including all PON nodes and their associated power supplies;assistswith troubleshooting, andis responsible forall maintenance/repairsto the network. The FTTH Network Technician supports outside plant, fiber optics, telecommunication architectures, and optical transport equipment and must have working knowledge of structured cabling.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:What will you be doing?
  • Daily support and maintenance of FTTH network – includingmaintenance and support of aerial and buried fibernetwork(carrier fiber networks, infrastructure, backbone, and lateral builds). This is inclusive of customer servicecalls.
  • ISP knowledge / experience
  • Network electronics (troubleshooting and maintenance)
  • Battery-plant replacement,support, andmaintenance
  • Data center environment support (troubleshooting and maintenance)
  • After hour support: respond to network outages, emergency restoration activities, and in support of maintenance activity
  • Assistin support of management of construction crews (inspect and assure construction work quality and crew safety)
  • Performing installation, testing, and commissioning of network equipment
  • Troubleshooting system failures and outages on the network and working to restore services inan expeditiousmanner
  • Engage with and manage third party partners thatare responsible forthe oversight, restoration, and recovery of the network
  • Other duties as assigned
COMPETENCIES:Whatdoyou bring to the team?
  • Self-starter / canoperateindependently and make sound decisions as it relates to support of customers and network
  • Understanding of networking and equipment as well as network architecture and topologies
  • Must be able to understand, read, and interpret construction documents – (network diagrams / as-builts)
  • Experience / knowledge / background in use of OTDR – critical skill
  • Understanding of allfacetsof OSP, including construction methods, materials used, and how to diagnose network outages
  • Familiarity with MS Suite, QGIS, and Google Earth
  • Able to maintain a customer and network health focus
  • Some local travel will berequired
  • Possess a valid / unrestricted driver’s license and able to pass driving record background check
  • Support site surveys and attend field meetingsrequiredto ensure projects meet the delivery/ commitment datesidentified
  • Meet response and repair intervals
  • Can manage difficult or emotional customer situations and responds promptly to customer needs with a focus on solving conflict, not blaming
  • Understands and prioritizes safety byobservingsafety and security procedures, determiningappropriate actionbeyond guidelines, and reporting potentially unsafe conditions
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
