Job summary

GCS Recruitment in Oregon is seeking a Fiber Engineer to support live data center operations. You will handle rack installations, fiber/copper cabling, testing, validation, and provide break-fix support with an on-call rotation.

The role requires hands-on experience in live data centers, strong cable management, ability to read drawings and MOPs, and solid troubleshooting. On-site work with occasional travel and after-hours shifts are expected.

Qualifications

• Experience in live data center environments.
• Strong rack & stack and structured cabling experience.
• Hands-on fiber and copper installation and testing skills.
• Experience with fiber inspection, cleaning, and power meter testing.
• Ability to read drawings, rack elevations, and MOPs.
• Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.
• Willingness to join an on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Install racks, cabinets, network/server equipment, and fiber/copper cabling.

• Troubleshoot and resolve physical layer and hardware issues.
• Support migrations, upgrades, decommissions, and customer handovers.

• Install racks, cabinets, network/server equipment, and fiber/copper cabling
• Test and certify fiber and copper links (including OTDR when required)
• Verify builds against drawings, rack elevations, and MOPs
• Troubleshoot and resolve physical layer and hardware issues

Working Conditions
