Job summary

Space Dynamics Laboratory in Logan, Utah, is seeking a Structured Cabling Technician to design, implement, secure, and maintain structured cable systems. The role includes installing low voltage and fiber optic cables, assembling racks, and testing cabling networks in both new and existing facilities.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of low voltage experience, knowledge of structured cabling best practices, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 2+ years experience installing low voltage cabling and fiber optic systems.
• Knowledge of structured cabling best practices.
• Willing to perform maintenance outside core hours.
• Work independently and as part of a team.
• Familiar with testing tools Fluke OTDR and DSX.
• Strong work ethic and reliability.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Visio, Bluebeam, PDF, Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Performs the technical responsibilities of a Low Voltage Cable Installer and functions as part of a technical team.
• Overhead and underground layout of pathways and rough-in.
• Terminate copper cable including coaxial, multi-pair, and Cat 5e through 6a.
• Assemble/install equipment racks and network cabinets with components.
• Perform fiber optic cable installation and terminations.
• Carry out structured cabling installations in new/existing facilities per diagrams.
• Explain structured cabling system aspects including pathways, backbone, testing.
• Troubleshoot and repair structured cabling systems and issues.
• Follows industry and company best practices; safely uses ladders/bucket lifts.
