Job summary

UST in Sunnyvale, California is seeking a FIB Technician (Associate I - Semiconductor Product Validation) to prepare TEM lamella samples using FIB and operate FIB, SEM, TEM and metrology equipment. You will perform routine equipment maintenance, monitor lab throughput, interface with requestors, verify metrology data, and help create SOPs while following safety protocols.

Ability to lift 30 lbs and work a compressed 12-hour weekend schedule.

Qualifications

• Experience in a semiconductor lab, process, metrology, or equipment environment.
• Basic understanding of SEM/FIB/TEM principles.
• Experience operating semiconductor process or metrology equipment.
• Ability to follow written instructions, SOPs, and safety procedures.
• Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare TEM lamella samples using FIB and optimize sample preparation conditions.
• Operate FIB, SEM, TEM, and metrology equipment for imaging, CD measurement, cross-section analysis, and EDS analysis.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance, calibration, plasma cleaning, flashing, and shutdown procedures.
• Identify equipment issues, take tools out of service when required, and coordinate repairs/service.
• Monitor lab job queues, equipment performance, and lab throughput.
• Interface with requestors to understand requirements, communicate results, and coordinate with engineering teams.
• Verify and upload metrology data and maintain required documentation.
• Create/update SOPs and procedures and document rework and lessons learned.
• Follow all laboratory safety protocols, SOPs, and process requirements.
• Coordinate equipment/supply orders and work with vendors and purchasing teams as needed.
• Use Microsoft Office/Outlook for routine documentation and communication.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and work a compressed 12-hour weekend schedule.
