Job description

Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Technologist, Radiology - PD.

In this role, the successful candidate, under the direction of a radiologist, operates radiologic equipment to produce clinical diagnostic images and performs routine diagnostic procedures according to established standards and practices.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Operates radiology equipment to produce quality images as ordered and according to department protocols. Produces images for interpretation by the Radiologist.
  • Prepares patients for exams using proper positioning and immobilization, providing instructions throughout.
  • Practices effective radiation protection, utilizing shielding devices when possible. Monitors exposure and follows department policies regarding pregnant patients.
  • Utilizes PACS system properly and timely to allow Radiologist interpretation. Verifies all images are transferred to PACS promptly.
  • Accurately uses Radiology Information Systems, verifies exam completion, contrast usage, and correct coding. Completes procedures efficiently.
  • Assists in maintaining facilities, equipment, and supplies, following infection control policies and procedures. Maintains a proper environment of care and initiates Standard Precautions when required.
  • Instructs and supervises Radiography students during clinical practicum, assisting with exams and performing QA image reviews with students.
Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED required. Technical Diploma or graduation from an AMA-approved school of Radiology or Imaging Services required. Current New York State Radiologic Technician license or a new graduate with a temporary permit. Must become registered before the temporary permit expires. ARRT certification required within 6 months of hire. Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills required. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office required. Thorough knowledge of radiography equipment required.

Required Licenses:
  • Radiologic Tech - Temp Permit
  • Radiologic Tech License - NYS
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Preferred Qualifications:

1-2 years of radiologic technology experience preferred.

Qualified candidates must communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
