Job description

Are you passionate about supporting children and youth as they navigate challenging health situations? Doral Health & Wellness is seeking a skilled and compassionate Child Life Specialist to join our dynamic team!

Location: Staten Island, NY

Type: FFS 1099 Independent Contractor

Specialty: Help children/youth better understand and express their feelings, emotions, behaviors, etc. through creative and kinesthetic treatment.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct individual and group sessions to support children in coping with their healthcare experiences.
  • Design and implement therapeutic programs to meet the emotional and developmental needs of pediatric patients.
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
  • Maintain detailed, accurate records of therapy sessions, patient progress, and outcomes.
  • Foster a safe, nurturing environment that encourages children to express their feelings and develop coping strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Child Life Specialist with certification through the Child Life Council.
  • Experience working with the Medically Fragile pediatric population is highly preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Passionate about supporting children and families during challenging healthcare situations.

Rate: $40 per hour
