Job summary

The International Festival of Arts & Ideas is seeking an Associate Director of Programs to lead the Programs department and shape a cohesive artistic vision for a globally oriented festival reflecting New Haven. You will be the primary curator and program strategist, directing festival-wide planning, theme, scope, and budget, and representing the festival locally and internationally.

In this role, you will oversee ideas programming, stories and food, neighborhood festivals, and education

Qualifications

  • Proven track record curating or producing multidisciplinary programming.
  • Strong knowledge of the performing and cultural arts landscape with a network of artists, agents, and presenters.
  • Deep commitment to community-centered and inclusive programming.
  • Experience managing program budgets, timelines and competing priorities.
  • Experience supervising staff and working across departments with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, negotiation, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the annual curatorial vision in line with the Festival’s theme and mission.
  • Lead season planning, including scope, schedule, and program budget, and final delivery within budget.
  • Work with Production and programming staff to finalize the annual program structure and keep the season on schedule.
  • Research and select artists and companies across local to international networks.
  • Connect program elements thematically to resonate with diverse audiences.
  • Oversee ticketed/free outdoor programs and provide curatorial guidance for Community Impact programming.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to develop audience engagement strategies and promote programming.
