Job summary

Hornblower Corp. seeks a Deckhand to monitor deck areas, assist with passenger safety, and provide exceptional guest service aboard vessels. Responsibilities include lines handling, mooring, ticketing, catering refreshments, and maintenance tasks as directed.

The role requires compliance with safety procedures, ship instructions, and regulatory guidelines while delivering professional service to all guests on board.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• TWIC credential or ability to obtain.
• First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain.
• Alcohol service certification after training.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• One year experience as deckhand; maritime exposure preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Monitor passenger & crewmember safety on the vessel; ensure equipment is used properly.
• Participate in trainings, drills, and safety audits.
• Understand shipboard safety procedures and locate safety equipment.
• Handle and dispose of chemicals per SDS.
• Report safety concerns to supervisor.
• Mooring, underway operations, and vessel handling in all weather.
• Sell tickets and concessions; manage cash and inventory.
• Provide refreshments to guests; assist with boarding/disembarking.
• Perform lookout duties and monitor waterways for hazards.
• Assist with fueling, water supply, and shore power connections.
• Carry out cleaning, custodial tasks, maintenance, and minor repairs.
• Assist with crew training and compliance with SMS and SI.
