Job summary

GovFirst is hiring a Ferry Crewmember to support vessel operations in Surry, VA. You will assist with loading and unloading vehicles and passengers, and help maintain safety and security according to Coast Guard and VDOT regulations.

This full-time role requires a High School Diploma or GED and MMC AB/QMED credentials within two years, plus a valid driver’s license and background check. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Experience performing manual labor using basic hand tools.
• Experience in emergency response activities preferred.
• Knowledge of seamanship, line handling, and marine terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct vehicles and passengers with clear signals during loading and unloading.
• Maintain safety by keeping proper vehicle spacing and monitoring decks.
• Secure first and last vehicles and assist with docking as required.
• Provide information and assistance to passengers.
• Perform vessel security checks and respond to emergencies.
• Keep assigned areas clean and orderly.
