Job summary

Eurofins USA PSS Insourcing Solutions is seeking an experienced scientist to lead upstream fermentation development for a novel DNA manufacturing platform. You will own the E.

coli processes from bench to pilot scale, interfacing with molecular biology, purification, and analytics teams. You will generate robust documentation, support GLP studies and technology transfer, and collaborate across functions to ensure compliant, high-yielding processes.

Qualifications

• PhD in chemical engineering, biochemical engineering, biotechnology, microbiology, molecular biology, or a related field.
• 1+ years of hands-on experience developing and operating bacterial fermentation processes in instrumented, controlled bioreactors.
• Experience independently designing, executing, and analyzing fermentation experiments at ≥ 2 L.
• Experience applying DOE and statistical analysis to process development data.
• Technical writing experience with development reports, protocols, or publications.
• Work with G×P and biosafety requirements (BSL-1) on GM organisms.

Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and optimize E. coli fermentation processes from shake flask through bench-scale and pilot-scale bioreactors.
• Drive improvements in yield and consistency via media, feed, induction, and control setpoints.
• Define process design space using DOE to identify parameters influencing quality and quantity.
• Establish scale-independent criteria for reproducibility across scales.
• Develop experimental plans, analyze data with statistical rigor, present findings to teams.
