The Wild Animal Horse Refuge

Ranch Hand – Fencing/Field & Hay Work

Location: Craig, CO 81625

Salary: $60,000 - $75,000 (Exempt Full‑Time – Mid Level)

Benefits: Medical, Dental, & Vision after 60 days; 401K after 30 days

Director Supervisor: Executive Director/Horse Refuge Director

Job Summary

The primary duties include ranch hand labor, fencing, field and hay work, feeding, animal care, and other tasks as assigned. Responsibilities are divided as follows:

  • 70% feeding and animal care operations
  • 10% other job duties
  • 20% additional tasks as required

Heavy equipment knowledge and experience are required for operating tractors, skid loaders, and hay equipment.

Preferred: Candidate already located near Craig, CO.

Responsibilities

With guidance from the Executive Director and Refuge Director, the employee will:

  • Execute day‑to‑day feeding, water haul, food haul, and field work including hay, seeding, pivot operations.
  • Perform all duties safely following company protocol, custodial responsibilities, sustainability and long‑term equipment care.
  • Perform fence mending and other related job duties as assigned.
