Job summary

Mills Fence Co., LLC | Upright Fence in Westland, MI is seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates for residential and commercial fencing projects. You will review plans, conduct site evaluations, and prepare bids that drive profitable proposals.

You will collaborate with clients, subcontractors and internal teams to ensure competitive pricing, accurate handoffs, and timely submissions while maintaining compliance with local codes and company standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction estimating, preferably fencing or related trades.
• Ability to read blueprints and site plans.
• Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
• Strong math, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites.

Responsibilities

• Review project plans, specifications, and client requirements for fencing projects.
• Conduct onsite evaluations to assess terrain, measurements, access points, and challenges.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Create materials lists and price materials such as wood, vinyl, chain link, aluminum.
• Generate and submit bids and proposals within deadlines.
• Communicate with clients to clarify scope and provide recommendations.
• Collaborate with project managers, sales, and installation crews for handoff.
• Source and price materials from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Track bid results, costs, and forecast future projects.
• Ensure estimates comply with local codes, zoning, and company standards.
