Job summary

Disability North in Benton, Newcastle upon Tyne, is seeking a Personal Assistant to support a 15-year-old child in daily activities, including bathing, dressing, meal prep and outings. The role requires a caring, patient approach and the ability to follow Pegs and Visual Stories communication methods where possible.

Experience with children is preferable; a driving drive may be involved. The role is subject to parental guidance and a plan that supports flexible hours based on term time and

• Assist with bathing and getting dressed, prepare meals and drinks, and support going out and about.
• Support with activities and outings, including going for drives as part of daily routines.

Hours: 5 hours per week during term time and 8 hours per week during school holidays – flexible via discussions with employer.

Rates of pay: £12.71 (min) per hour

Hi, my name is Jasmin, I am a cheeky and happy 15-year-old, I am nonverbal so developing a trusting relationship is key to been my Personal Assistant. The main purpose of this job is to work alongside my parents. You will assist with bathing and getting dressed, prepare meals and drinks and support with going out and about I especially love to go for a drive.

Previous experience of working with children is preferable, particularly children that communicate via Pegs and Visual Stories, but we are happy to consider applicants who do not have prior experience.

There is a genuine occupational requirement for the holder of this post to be male/female in accordance with the Health and SocialCareAct 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 and Equality Act 2010 schedule 9 paragraphs 1 – 4.
