Job summary

Qualifications

JD from an accredited law school and Minnesota licensure required.
One year of relevant work experience for Assistant County Attorney I; eight years for Assistant County Attorney II.
Strong oral and written advocacy, professionalism, and ability to handle diverse criminal and civil caseloads.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel within Minnesota.

Responsibilities

Prosecute petty misdemeanors through felonies on behalf of the State of Minnesota.
Attend hearings: bail, pretrials, trials, sentencing, and appeals.
Draft criminal complaints from police reports and evidence.
Conduct legal research and prepare motions and briefs.
Advise Victim Services Coordinator and manage restitution claims.
Negotiate with defense counsel and train law enforcement on legal issues.
Assist with extradition, expungement, and firearms rights restoration.
Collaborate with county and state prosecutors and maintain professional conduct.
