Job summary

VIMS1 Virginia Institute of Marine Science seeks a Fellows and Internships Coordinator to design, manage, and evaluate VASG fellowship and internship programs, support applicants, and coordinate reviewers and timelines.

Ideal candidates hold a coastal/marine bachelor’s degree with 5+ years in program management, grants, budgeting, and strong communication. This three-year, on-site role in Gloucester supports student development and Sea Grant initiatives at William & Mary.

Qualifications

• Education Bachelor's degree in coastal and marine field or other relevant field.
• Experience project management, including time and deadline management and coordination.
• Experience writing, preparing, packaging, and submitting grants.
• Experience managing budgets, contracts, or work plans.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Administers fellowships and internships and manages student funding opportunities.
• Develops requests for proposals and oversees applications intake and review processes.
• Tracks proposals, coordinates reviewers, and ensures compliance with guidelines.
• Supports student development, including orientation, coaching, and alumni engagement.
• Collaborates with HR and fiscal offices to ensure financial compliance and reporting.
