The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decisionmakers concerned with global security and prosperity. It has grown to be one of the largest of its kind, with about 200 employees, including over 120 analysts addressing international security dynamics worldwide.
The Japan Chair was created to study U.S.-Japan relations and promote mutual understanding. As Japan's influence in Asia and globally expands, the Chair aims to define a strategic agenda for the U.S.-Japan relationship in bilateral, regional, and global contexts. Its research covers Japanese politics, U.S.-Japan security and economic ties, and strategic cooperation with Indo-Pacific countries.
We seek a Fellow or Senior Fellow to contribute to our research through writing, data analysis, project development, and management. Candidates should have a background in Japan studies, international relations, or related fields, with data analysis experience. This is an in-person role at our Washington, D.C. headquarters.
Salary depends on experience and expertise.
This role is based at our Washington, D.C. headquarters, requiring in-office presence 3+ days weekly. Reasonable accommodations are available for disabilities. The work environment noise level is moderate.
