Job description

Senior Fellow: Early Career & Leadership Development Program

Be a Part of a Revolutionary Change!

At Philip Morris International (PMI), we're transforming our business to deliver a smoke-free future. Join a team committed to innovation, continuous improvement, and professional growth.

About The Role

Location: Stamford, Connecticut (in-office required), with significant domestic travel

Program Length: 18-24 months

Reports to: Chief of Staff to CEO

Target Start Date: ASAP

Salary range (annual): $90,000–$110,000, with full benefits

Program Overview

The Senior Fellow Program is an immersive management training experience designed for highly ambitious early-career professionals with 2–3 years of work experience who are ready to operate at the center of a complex, purpose-driven organization.

Senior Fellows work directly with PMI U.S.’s senior leadership—including the Office of the CEO—to help shape the business’s future and advance its mission to unsmoke America. Over 18 to 24 months, Fellows gain deep exposure to corporate strategy, brand building, communications, finance, and commercial execution before, subject to performance, being given the opportunity to move into a permanent role where they can grow and flourish.

This is not a rotational program designed for observation. It is designed for hands-on contributions and ownership.

Rotational Experience & Placement

The Fellow will rotate into one to three of PMI U.S.’s core business functions—most likely Finance, Corporate Strategy and/or Commercial—to broaden strategic exposure and develop the operational fluency required for a permanent leadership role. Rotational placements will be shaped by both business need and the Fellow’s demonstrated strengths.

Across all rotations, the Fellow will be expected to contribute meaningfully from day one—not simply observe—and to develop proficiency in budget planning, cost management, and financial decision-making, among other areas, in preparation for the responsibilities of a permanent role.

Work Location & Travel Expectations

This role is based in Stamford, Connecticut, and may require working in the office up to five days per week. Significant travel across the United States is required.

Prerequisites for Success
  • Exceptional writing and presentation skills, with the ability to craft compelling executive-level communications
  • Strong instincts for corporate brand building, marketing, and stakeholder engagement
  • Ability to manage budgets and exercise rigorous cost discipline
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and operating with significant independence
  • Sound judgment and discretion when supporting senior leadership on sensitive priorities
  • Attention to detail paired with the ability to see and articulate the big picture
  • Genuine commitment to PMI’s mission to unsmoke America
Candidate Profile
  • Age 21 or older as of start date
  • Bachelor’s degree required - MBA Strongly Preferred
  • 2–3 years of professional experience
  • Financial acumen and prior exposure to budget planning or cost management preferred
  • Hyper-ambitious, detail-oriented, and highly adaptable
  • Exceptional communication and marketing instincts
  • Willingness to travel extensively
  • Authorized to work in the US
