Job summary

AMD is seeking an influential Fellow for OneROCm to steer a unified ROCm stack across Instinct, Radeon, Ryzen, Embedded and more. You will lead architecture, influence the full stack, and drive hardware/software co-design across diverse AMD platforms.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical leadership with cross‑organizational influence.
  • Experience spanning AI/ML software stack: compilers, kernels, runtime, libraries, models, frameworks.
  • Deep knowledge of GPU architectures and ROCm/CUDA/OpenCL.
  • Experience with hardware/software co‑design for high‑performance products.
  • Experience with OS and device driver development is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Set technical vision and roadmap for AI software stack across AMD products.
  • Collaborate across hardware and software teams to influence silicon features.
  • Lead profiling, analysis, and tuning of large-scale models for AMD hardware.
  • Drive ecosystem tools for performance estimation and automated reporting.
  • Engage with customers and hyperscalers to tailor architectural wins.
  • Mentor and inspire AMD’s technical leaders and engineers.

THE ROLE:

AMD AI Group is seeking a highly influential technical leader for the role of AMD Fellow, OneROCm— driving a unified ROCm software stack across AMD’s broad product portfolio, includingInstinct, Radeon, Ryzen, Embedded, Game Consoles, and Autonomous Drivingplatforms. This is a rare opportunity to lead architecture, drive innovation, and help develop next-generation products at company-wide scale.

The ideal candidate will define theend-to-end ROCm software strategyand influence the full stack, spanningcompilers, kernels, runtime, libraries, models, frameworks, and performance optimizationlayers. The role also requires stronghardware/software co-design leadershipto maximizeperformanceacross diverse AMD products and workloads. The ideal candidate is expected to be highly hands‑on and embrace agentic AI workflows.

You are astrongtechnicalleaderwhoisable towork across organizations, align architecture with product goals, and influence both near‑term execution and long‑term roadmap decisions. Youbring deepexpertiseinat least one major area of the stack, while alsodemonstratingthecuriosity, adaptability, and technical breadth to learn new domains, grow their impact, and influence the broader ecosystem.

As a successfulcandidate, youare recognized for technical excellence, cross‑functional leadership, and the ability to drive company‑wide innovation through collaboration across silicon, system software, AI/ML frameworks, libraries, and application enablement teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Strategic Leadership: Set the technical vision and roadmap for AI software stackacross all AMD products, ensuring AMDremainsthe platform of choice for top‑tier AI customers.
  • Hardware‑Software Co‑design: Collaborate across hardware architecture, compiler, math libraries,kerneland framework teams to influence future silicon features based on evolving AI workload trends.
  • Workload Performance Engineering: Lead the profiling, analysis, and tuning of large-scale models (LLMs, Diffusion, Multimodal, andMoE) to ensure "out‑of‑the‑box" performance excellence on AMD hardware.
  • Ecosystem Innovation: Drive the development of advanced tools and frameworks for performance estimation, modeling, and automated reporting.
  • Customer Engagement: Partner with top customers andhyperscalersto understand their unique workload requirements and deliver tailored architectural wins and software optimizations.
  • Community & Mentorship: Act as a technical ambassador in industry forums and open‑source communities. Mentor and inspire the next generation of AMD’s technical leaders and engineers.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Knowledge in GPU architectures, basic knowledge of CPU architecture
  • Experience inAI/ML software stackspanningcompilers, kernels, runtime, libraries, models, frameworks, and performance optimization layers
  • Understanding ofGPU programmingsuch asROCm,CUDA, OpenCL,etc
  • Experience in hardware/software co-design, building high-performance products across the full product lifecycle.
  • Experience with operating systems (OS) and device driver development is a plus
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
  • Undergraddegree required.Bachelor of Science, Masters, or PhD degree with emphasis in Electrical Engineering, Computer architecture, or Computer Science with relevant experience preferred
