Job summary

Friona Industries is seeking a Night Watchman at our feedyard to patrol and secure the yard during the night shift from 5:00pm to 5:30am, answer calls, and assist with loading/unloading as needed.

Responsibilities include monitoring access, handling cattle reception, tagging as needed, maintaining pens, performing night checks, monitoring water and feeds, watching for wildlife and severe weather, reporting emergencies, and following supervisor instructions.

Qualifications

• Willing to work nights, weekends and holidays.
• Able to sit, stand or walk for long periods.
• Strong attention to detail and good communication.
• General housekeeping duties included.
• Mechanical ability and use of surveillance tools.
• Commitment to safety and reporting emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Be on duty and patrol the feedyard from 5:00pm until 5:30am.
• Prevent illegal entry and oversee access to the premises.
• Provide customer service as loads enter and exit the yard.
• Receive incoming cattle and commodities as needed.
• Move cattle into pens.
• Make ear tags for upcoming processing.
• Maintain proper pen environments, feed levels, and water conditions.
• Perform Night time feed checks.
• Check water systems and wells; verify safe working conditions.
• Watch for nuisance wildlife.
• Be alert to and aware of impending severe weather.
• Report all emergency situations immediately.
• Notify staff and supervisor upon observation of anything out of the ordinary; follow instructions.
• The Employer retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position.

Night watchmen provides overnight security for the feedyard location. May be required to answer phone calls, take messages, aid in the loading and unloading of cattle, and respond to requests and questions.

Roles and Tasks

• Notify the appropriate facility staff and supervisor immediately upon observation of anything out of the ordinary, and carry out all instructions given by the staff and/or supervisor.
