Job summary

Friona Industries in Dalhart, TX is seeking a Night Watchman to provide overnight security at the feedyard. You will patrol the yard from 5:00pm to 5:30am, monitor entry points, aid in loading/unloading cattle, and respond to routine inquiries and requests.

The role requires willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays, strong attention to detail, and the ability to operate basic surveillance and communication tools. Prior livestock experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Be on duty and patrol the feedyard from 5:00pm to 5:30am.
• Prevent unauthorized entry and monitor access.
• Provide customer service as loads enter/exit the yard.
• Receive cattle and commodities as needed.
• Move cattle into pens.
• Make ear tags for upcoming processing.
• Maintain pen environments, feed levels and water conditions.
• Perform night checks of feed and water systems.
• Check water systems and wells.
• Ensure safe working conditions across the facility.
• Watch for nuisance wildlife.
• Monitor for severe weather and respond as needed.
• Report emergencies to staff and follow supervisor instructions.

General Description / Objective

Night watchmen provides overnight security for a the feedyard location. May be required to answer phone calls, take messages, aid in the loading and unloading of cattle, and respond to requests and questions.

Roles and Tasks

• Be on duty and patrol the feedyard from 5:00pm until 5:30am.
• Prevent illegal entry and oversee who comes and goes from a building or the premises
• Provide customer service as necessary as loads enter and exit the yard
• Receive incoming cattle and commodities as needed
• Move cattle into pens
• Make ear tags for upcoming processing
• Maintain proper pen environments, feed levels, and water conditions
• Perform Night time feed checks
• Check water systems and wells
• Verify safe working conditions throughout the facility
• Watch for nuisance wildlife
• Be alert to and aware of any impending severe weather
• Report all emergency situations immediately
• Notify the appropriate facility staff and supervisor immediately upon observation of anything out of the ordinary, and carry out all instructions given by the staff and/or supervisor.
