Job summary

USAGM's Office of Cuba Broadcasting in Doral, FL seeks a skilled personnel services contractor to monitor, route, and verify broadcast feeds for live and recorded programs.

You will guide remote guests, troubleshoot signal issues, coordinate with master control and engineering, and ensure high-quality transmission across satellite, IP, and streaming platforms.

This role requires strong teamwork, independence, and the ability to adapt to fast-paced production schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage incoming/outgoing broadcast feeds (satellite, fiber, IP, streaming).
  • Guide remote contribution of guests and field talent, advising on device/camera placement, lighting, and audio.
  • Flag to producers any challenges with remote guests such as wardrobe or non-standard appearance.
  • Coordinate feed acquisition, recording, routing, and distribution to support live and recorded broadcasts.
  • Operate broadcast routing, switching, and monitoring equipment to ensure content is delivered to destinations.
  • Verify feed quality, signal integrity, audio levels, and video performance before/during transmission.
  • Troubleshoot routine feed and signal issues and coordinate with engineering staff to resolve problems.
  • Maintain communication with master control, production, engineering, and external broadcasters regarding feed schedules.
  • Record and archive incoming feeds, live events, and programming content.
  • Monitor multiple feed sources simultaneously and respond quickly to interruptions.
  • Stays abreast of latest technology.
  • Coordinates on-air telephone calls, Skype, Zooms, Bitfire, LTN Teradek, and other remotes
  • Operates computers.
  • Completes tasks prior to deadline, in accordance with editorial and production priorities
  • Functions as effective member of a team; may serve as team leader and coach
  • Other related duties as assigned

Primary Responsibilities
  • Monitor and manage incoming and outgoing broadcast feeds, including satellite, fiber, IP, and streaming sources.
  • Guide remote contribution of guests and field talent, advising on device/camera placement, lighting acoustic environment camera framing, while managing connection stability and other production standards such as backgrounds.
  • Flag to producers any additional challenges with remote guests such as wardrobe, hats or any non-standard appearance concerns.
  • Coordinate feed acquisition, recording, routing, and distribution to support live and recorded broadcasts.
  • Operate broadcast routing, switching, and monitoring equipment to ensure content is delivered to the correct destinations.
  • Verify feed quality, signal integrity, audio levels, and video performance before and during transmission.
  • Troubleshoot routine feed and signal issues and coordinate with engineering staff to resolve technical problems.
  • Maintain communication with master control, production, engineering, and external broadcasters regarding feed schedules and transmission requirements.
  • Record and archive incoming feeds, live events, and programming content as required.
