Job summary

Five Rivers Cattle Feeding is hiring a Feed Truck Driver to transport finished feed to cattle daily. You will operate a truck, follow yard guidelines, and communicate loads and pens assigned using a laptop device.

This role requires situational awareness and adherence to safety rules in a loud, outdoor work environment. The ideal candidate will have a valid driver's license and basic math skills for ration calculations, with the ability to follow precise procedures and maintain vehicle

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Must be able to perform basic arithmetic for unit calculations.
  • Ability to follow yard-specific guidelines and safety rules.

Responsibilities

  • Operates a feed truck to distribute a pre-determined quantity of feed daily.
  • Recognizes different feed rations.
  • Corrects misfeeds and notifies the manager.
  • Cleans bunks according to yard specifications and removes mold, rocks, manure.
  • Minimizes truck downtime by servicing and inspecting per schedule.
  • Maintains a clean truck by trash removal, wiping, and washing per schedule.
  • Complies with all applicable safety rules and policies.

JOB TITLE: Feed Truck Driver

REPORTS TO: Feed Department Manager

FLSA STATUS: Hourly, Ag-exempt

FUNCTION: Transports and delivers finished feed to cattle daily by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Operates a feed truck to distribute a pre-determined quantity of feed to cattle daily; follows yard-specific guidelines regarding accuracy, distribution, and timeliness. Use of laptop device to communicate loads and pens assigned.
  • Recognizes different feed rations.
  • Corrects mistakes by shoveling over-fed quantities back onto the truck, notifying the manager of misfeeds, and cleaning up spills.
  • Cleans bunks out according to yard specifications, including regular removal of mold, rocks, manure, etc...
  • Minimizes truck downtime by performing truck servicing and inspection according to schedule.
  • Maintains a clean truck by cleaning out trash, wiping out, and washing according to schedule.
  • Complies with all applicable safety rules and policies.
Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure; ability to compute rate, ration, and percent.

Working with or near cattle, horses, vehicles, and equipment in all weather conditions.
