Job summary

Five Rivers Cattle Feeding is seeking a Yard Maintenance worker to assist in pen maintenance, groundskeeping, painting, cleaning, and tank washing around the yard. You will perform essential duties with a focus on safety and efficiency in a cattle yard environment.

The role requires reading and understanding safety rules and manuals, driving responsibilities, and the ability to adapt to varying tasks. Applicants must have a valid driver's license and be able to work in an outdoor, noisy setting.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

• Identify pens to be cleaned through communication with management and receiving personnel.
• Maintain roads, bunk pads, pens, and alleys by filling holes, controlling dust, and removing manure; preserve hard pack while maintaining pen slope and grade; operate heavy equipment.
• Repair water systems and tanks to ensure cattle have freshwater.
• Mow grass and sweep bunks using tractor or mower; replace broken cables or fence components; paint pens and buildings.
• Drive a feed truck as needed.
• Ensure equipment is serviced per manager's instructions (fueling, fluid checks, filters, greasing, and cleaning).
• Comply with applicable safety rules and policies.

REPORTS TO: Manager Yard Maintenance and Assistant Manager Yard Maintenance

FLSA STATUS: Hourly, Ag exempt

FUNCTION: Assists in various capacities around the yard department including pen maintenance, groundskeeping, painting, cleaning, and tank washing/repair. Performs the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Identifies pens to be cleaned through communication with management and receiving personnel.

Maintains road surfaces, bunk pads, pens, and alleys by filling in holes, controlling dust, and removing accumulated manure; takes care to leave hard pack intact while also maintaining pen slope and grade; operates heavy equipment.

Helps ensure a continuous supply of freshwater to cattle by performing repairs to the water systems and tanks.

Mows grass/weeds and sweeps bunks by operating tractor/mower; replaces broken cable, clips, or fence; paints or re-paints pens, building, etc...

Will include driving a feed truck as well.

Ensures operation of equipment by completing servicing requirements specified by the manager (may include: fueling, checking fluid levels, checking filters, greasing, and cleaning equipment).

Complies with all applicable safety rules and policies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid driver’s license.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
