Smithfield Foods seeks a Feed Mill Manager in Rose Hill, NC to coordinate daily operations, maximize resources, and identify continuous improvement opportunities.

The role plans shift schedules, leads production teams, delivers training, and partners with HR on staffing. Strong safety knowledge and feed-mac operations experience are essential for success in this fast-paced plant.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 2+ years of leadership experience including team development and management.
• Strong safety background with OSHA regulations.
• Knowledge of feed mill operations.
• Ability to troubleshoot and operate all equipment within the operation.
• Experience evaluating work processes for efficiencies and operational flow.
• Strong computer skills with Microsoft Excel & Word.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and leads all shift operations.
• Directs salaried exempt and hourly production leaders to meet customer expectations on time.
• Plans operational schedules for shifts with input from Maintenance, QA, Sanitation, and material control.
• Coordinates and delivers training sessions; partners with HR to staff operations.
• Communicates effectively in verbal and written forms with internal and external personnel.
• Acts as contact for vendors and suppliers; supports safety initiatives and quality improvements.
• Guides process control, inventory control, and employee development to improve operations and retention.

Your Opportunity

The Feed Mill Manager coordinates and facilitates the daily operations to maximize all available resources. Plans and coordinates the operational activities with input and interaction from a variety of sources. Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement by performing the following duties.

Core Responsibilities

• Coordinates all shift operations.
• Coordinates the activities of salaried exempt and hourly production group leaders to assure all customer expectations are met in a timely manner.
• Coordinates the operational schedules for the shifts in conjunction with facility needs including Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Sanitation, material control and other functional areas.
• Coordinates training and development sessions.
• Partners with Human Resources to develop and recommend staffing levels for operations.
• Coordinates and implements a comprehensive training plan for personnel.
• Effectively communicates in verbal and written forms to internal and external personnel.
• Serve as a contact person for various vendors and suppliers.
• Facilitates the continuous quality improvement process and plant safety initiatives.
• Facilitates the continuous improvement of efficient inbound and outbound loading processes.
• Guides group leaders in process control, inventory control, personnel practices, efficient operations, safety, and employee development and employee retention goals.
• Facilitates and promotes the development of new work systems for facility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 5+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required
• Minimum of 2+ years' experience in a position of leadership to include team development and management, required.
• Understanding of OSHA regulations as well as a strong safety background.
• Must have knowledge of feed mill operations.
• Must be able to troubleshoot and operate all equipment within the operation.
• Experience evaluating work processes and systems for efficiencies and operational flow.
• Strong Computer skills preferred (Microsoft Exel & Word).
• Ability to evaluate performance level and provide constructive feedback and assistance for improvement.
• Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
• Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and guidance to employees in the Feed Mill.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
• Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and assisting in providing appropriate resolutions.
