Job summary

GDH is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Architect to lead the design, implementation, and governance of enterprise cloud solutions supporting federal programs. The role emphasizes secure, scalable AWS architectures with Azure support and FedRAMP Moderate compliance.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize cloud infrastructure, security, and automation, develop IaC templates, and drive SRE and disaster recovery practices while mentoring cloud engineers.

Qualifications

• U.S. Government security clearance eligibility; U.S. citizenship required.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/IS or related field or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years in cloud infrastructure and AWS-focused architecture.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services: VPC, IAM, EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, Transit Gateway, KMS, Control Tower, PrivateLink, Direct Connect, VPN.
• Strong networking, databases, storage, and container orchestration on AWS.
• 5+ years with AWS security services: GuardDuty, Security Hub, Inspector.
• Experience in FedRAMP Moderate or higher; familiar with NIST 800-53/800-171.
• Infrastructure as Code with Terraform/CloudFormation; CI/CD pipelines.
• Scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Serverless and cloud-native architectures: Lambda, API Gateway, microservices.
• Hybrid/multi-cloud with Azure, VNets, Azure AD, SSO/MFA, ExpressRoute, VPN.
• Support for ATO and continuous monitoring in government/regulatory environments.
• Certification: AWS Solutions Architect (Associate/Professional); Professional preferred.
• Strong collaboration with technical and non-technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and document scalable, resilient, secure cloud architectures using AWS (VPC, IAM, EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS) with Azure support.
• Develop reference architectures and patterns aligned with FedRAMP Moderate and NIST controls.
• Lead cloud migration and modernization including workload assessment, right-sizing, cost optimization.
• Evaluate cloud-native and hybrid solutions for performance, security, cost.
• Support SSPs, architecture diagrams, and documentation for ATO processes.
• Develop reusable IaC templates with Terraform or CloudFormation for automated deployments.
• Configure secure CI/CD pipelines and monitoring; containerization using AWS tools and Azure DevOps, CodePipeline/Build/Deploy.
• Architect secure identity management (MFA, SSO, firewalls, encryption, data protection).
• Implement SRE practices and disaster recovery to enhance resilience.
• Provide technical mentorship and leadership to cloud engineering teams.
