Job Summary: A

The SUNY Syracuse EOC is part of a system of educational enterprises that serve eligible adult learners. Founded over 50 years ago, the mission of the EOC system is to “provide urban communities with innovative academic programs leading to higher education and vocational training programs leading to gainful employment and economic self-sufficiency.”

Make a meaningful difference in a student’s life!

Adult education teachers and tutors help bridge the gap between millions of Americans marginalized by their limited education and a job market that increasingly demands more advanced skills. Many of our students have been educationally under-served and have had negative experiences with prior schooling. Therefore, the EOC provides support services such as the EOC Tutoring Center.

The EOC Tutoring Center is a supportive environment where our students practice skills needed to achieve academic success. Tutors are available in a variety of subject areas to help students gain a deeper understanding of course content, prepare for exams such as the GED, or learn just for self-improvement. Tutors employ various instructional strategies to address a student’s needs andbuild their confidence. EOC also offers quality online tutoring by means of our Virtual Tutoring Lab.

For Fall 2023, the EOC Tutoring Lab is seeking tutors qualified to tutor English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Math, and Science. Preference will be given to applicants who are qualified and willing to tutor multiple subjects.

This position is off campus located at the EOC Center: 100 New Street, Syracuse NY 13202
