Job summary

LIU Post is seeking a Student Worker in the Nursing department to assist fellow students as a tutor. The position is eligible for Federal Work Study and involves one-on-one or small group tutoring in Life Science-Second Floor.

Qualified LIU students enrolled in an active nursing degree program, ideally seniors, with strengths in Pharmacology, Pathophysiology and Fundamentals, will support nursing students under the Department Chairperson Kerry Vignola.

• Must be a Nursing student, senior year.

Responsibilities

• Provide tutoring and support to nursing students in one-on-one or small groups.
• Work with Department Chairperson to coordinate tutoring sessions.

Purpose or role of the position within the organization (Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities): Student Tutor

Duties And Principal Responsibilities: Work with Department Chairperson to provide tutoring and support to nursing students in a one on one or small group setting.

Education Requirements: LIU student enrolled in an active degree program. Must be a Nursing Student, Senior Year.

Training, Skills, Knowledge, Experience: Academic Strength required in Pharmacology, Pathophysiology and Fundamentals.

Rate of Pay: minimum hourly rate $20 HR

Period of employment: Begin Date: 9/2026 End Date: 5/2027

Evaluation procedures and schedules: Guidance and support provided to FWS Tutor by the Department Chair. Schedule to be set up by the student typically 2 days a week approximately 7-8-hours a week.
