Job summary

Thisiscny is seeking a Federal Work Study student for a Research Assistant position in the Department of Pharmacology at Upstate Medical University. Beginning in June, the successful candidate will assist an NIH-funded biomedical research project and be trained under supervision in a wet lab setting, handling cell culture, basic biochemistry assays, and animal/human sample work.

Qualifications

• Must be a current student enrolled at Upstate Medical University.
• Approved for financial aid through the Student Financial Aid office at Upstate.
• Preference for prior biomedical research experience.
• Ability to work part-time and follow supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist ongoing biomedical research project in the Urao laboratory.
• Perform wet lab experiments including cell culture and biochemistry assays.
• Work with mouse models and human blood samples.
• Receive supervision, guidance and training from lab staff.
• Schedule hours determined by the supervisor based on project needs.
