Bay College in Escanaba is seeking a Federal Work Study Biology Lab/Greenhouse Assistant for the 2026-2027 year. The position supports biology labs and greenhouse activities, with 10–15 hours per week and pay at $15.00 per hour.

Under the Biology Instructor's supervision, you will help prepare, set up, and clean labs; inventory equipment; and assist with greenhouse tasks while following safety standards.

The purpose of the Federal Work-Study Program is to give a student an opportunity to develop skills, gain on-the-job experience for future employment, and give the student flexibility to work around class schedules.
Minimum Qualifications

• Must be a Bay College student in the work study program to be considered for this position. Eligibility for work-study is determined after you file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
• Work-study requires that you are degree seeking and enrolled in a minimum of one credit that applies towards the semester you are employed.
• You must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Preferred Qualifications Months Per Year Work Hours Average 10-15 hours per week, dependent upon your work study award. Supervision Exercised Supervision Received
Works under the direction of the Biology Instructor.

Job Duty

• Responsible for assisting with preparation, setup, and cleanup for biology labs
• In conjunction with faculty, individual is responsible for cleaning, organizing, inventorying, and maintaining as needed all laboratory equipment, glassware, instruments, computers, and supplies in the biology lab
• In conjunction with greenhouse supervisor, individual oversees and manages ongoing activities in the greenhouse, including watering, weeding, planting, propagation and pest management
• Lab work: Preparation, setup, cleanup
• Maintain inventories and general cleanup
• Some light lifting; occasionally hot, dirty and dusty work
• Adherence to safety standards
