FEDERAL TAX ASSOCIATE
Position Description

At RSM, associates work with large and small companies across various industries. They develop strong relationships with clients by understanding their businesses and challenges. Associates work on multiple team engagements each year, including several components of each assignment—fostering a collaborative environment that helps our associates perform at their best and balance their career with their personal life.

Responsibilities include:
  • Working on a team focusing on a wide range of tax specialty areas, including income taxes, accounting methods, corporate taxation, federal credits, individual taxation, mergers and acquisitions, pass-through entities, private client services, and not-for-profit organizations.
  • Completing tax planning and research.
  • Preparing federal, state, and local tax returns.
  • Understanding tax regulations and accounting pronouncements.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum B.A. or B.S. degree from an accredited university, with an accounting major.
  • Ability to travel to client locations using reliable transportation.
  • Preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Progress toward CPA certification; opportunity to obtain audit hours for full certification.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong computer skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
