Job summary

The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond offers a Summer Internship on the Community Development team for students pursuing economics with an interest in public engagement. You will assist data analysis, plan workshops and events, and help develop resources for community programs.

Interns gain exposure to mentorship, workshops, and networking opportunities while supporting initiatives in the Fifth District. Onsite presence is required and the program emphasizes professional development.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be currently enrolled college students, preferably rising junior or senior with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Significant economics coursework required.
• Ideal candidate is an economics major with some public engagement or education background.
• Familiarity with the Federal Reserve System is a plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to present in classroom or museum settings.
• Proficiency in data exploration and ability to communicate findings.

Responsibilities

• Assists department with development and design of resources and programs.
• Supports planning and management of meetings, workshops, conferences and events.
• Supports development of innovative marketing and communication materials.
• Prepares resource and handout packets for presentations.
• Tabulates evaluations and analyzes feedback for programs; conducts information searches and provides summaries.
• Coordinating presentations at the location.
• Performs miscellaneous research duties, such as literature reviews and special projects.

About The Opportunity

Are you interested in delivering programs to address the challenges faced by low-to-moderate income households? A summer internship on the Fifth District’s Community Development team might be a good fit for you. You will support the bank’s Community Development and Regional Economic initiatives and programs that focus on building financial capital and workforce pathways for communities in the Fifth District. You will support data analysis, program and event planning and execution, and external sensing and engagement. Through these and other projects, you will learn from community development professionals and interact with external audiences.

The Summer Internship Program provides outstanding students with the opportunity to gain valuable work experience at a unique institution. Through advanced project work assignments and professional development activities, interns are provided with an extensive understanding of the work of the Federal Reserve.The Community Development intern will have the opportunity to enhance business skills through conducting data analysis and supporting the planning of workshops, conferences, and events along with mentorship and exclusive networking opportunities.
