Job summary

Enterprise Community Partners in Washington seeks a Policy Communications Director to lead the federal policy communications strategy, manage media relations, and collaborate across teams to promote affordable housing advocacy.

The role requires experience shaping messaging, writing, and coordinating with policy, research, marketing, and external partners to advance Enterprise’s Washington and national agenda.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• Eight years’ experience in policy-related communications.
• Strong writing skills.
• Experience leading major legislative or advocacy campaigns.
• Some experience in affordable housing, real estate, or housing advocacy preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead communications strategy for federal policy work.
• Collaborate with policy development and research teams to shape and promote advocacy.
• Position Enterprise’s experts as national voices on federal housing policy and legislation.
• Shape advocacy plans with marketing and digital teams to influence public policy debates.
• Prepare memos, talking points, op-eds, press releases and other materials for media relations.
• Engage in rapid response to major policy developments in Washington.
• Nourish reporter relationships to report on affordable housing shortages.
• Support Washington-based activities with fundraising and events teams.
• Work with coalition partners to shape shared communications strategies.
