U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of West Virginia is seeking a Legal Assistant to support Assistant United States Attorneys by handling a variety of legal documents and office tasks.

The role involves training as needed, with opportunities to advance as experience grows. Responsibilities include preparing and organizing documents for court, researching statutes, and coordinating schedules and travel as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of specialized experience reviewing legal documents for accuracy.
• Experience locating information from files and reference sources.

Responsabilités

• Examine, prepare, and process a variety of legal documents including complaints, motions, orders, and pleadings.
• Proofread and cite-check briefs and memoranda for accuracy and compliance with standards.
• Assist attorneys in trial preparation by performing non-complex research on litigation, statutes, and cases.
• Assemble exhibits and other documents for court proceedings.
• Maintain files and calendars for deadlines and case management.
