Responsibilities
  • Act as Lead System Field Engineer on projects or system upgrades, capable of directing self and other assigned project STs and mentoring less experienced STs.
  • Post-sale implementation of voice and data communications systems.
  • Provide technical support on specialized telecommunications systems and public safety product applications for the Federal DoD.
  • Perform specific system configuration, programming, optimization, testing, and documentation tasks.
  • Provide technical support of specialized systems and product applications, including advanced troubleshooting of software-driven electronics, provisioning of communication system infrastructure, and performance optimization of RF and Broadband architecture including legacy analog, advanced digital P25, and data infrastructure.
  • Maintain, optimize, test, support and document complex mission-critical communications systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance routines to ensure proper system operation with a focus on trend analysis and documentation of results.
  • Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments.
  • Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered as part of system maintenance, upgrades or support issues.
  • Total familiarity and continuous training in the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Team with Engineering, Project Management, and Sales personnel to effectively maintain, optimize and support advanced communication systems which meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Work with other Field Engineers, Tech Support, Product Groups, and/or others to characterize system defects during system implementation and, on occasion, during the maintenance phase.
  • Perform maintenance of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure and troubleshoot to resolve system/application related issues.
  • Solve customer problems quickly during stressful situations.
Qualifications
  • Preferred Candidate Experience:

  • Very strong knowledge of wired communications systems, LAN/WAN
  • Proficient in computer network installation, configuration, and maintenance systems including cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges
  • Experience with RF interfaces and systems such as transmitters, receivers, and antenna networks
  • Knowledge in standard telephony, dedicated data circuits, and packet switching techniques
  • Strong self-management and interpersonal skills to work with customers and internal teams
  • Experience with logging/recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless systems, and networking equipment
  • Excellent communications and professional presentation
  • The ideal candidate must demonstrate high-level system experience with the following equipment: Motorola Base Stations, Dispatch Consoles, T1/MPLS Circuits, Computer IP Networks, RF infrastructure technologies including SmartZone, SmartNet, console systems, ASTRO conventional/trunked, and simulcast systems
  • Excellent skills with communications test equipment, including system analyzers, Ethernet test sets, T1 test sets, TIMS, digital RF power meters, MCC/MCC Console systems, Secure Operations, ASTRO A7.x - A20.x, digital systems and installation procedures
  • Security clearance eligibility and willingness to obtain DoD Secret and DHS Public Trust clearances
  • CompTIA Security+ or ability to obtain within first year
  • Preferred pursuing at least one network certification: Network+, CompTIA, Security+
Candidate Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • 2 year Associate degree in Electronics or IT preferred
  • Unique combinations of RF communications systems and/or computer/networking skills preferred
  • Willing to obtain DoD Secret Clearance
  • Willing to obtain DHS Public Trust Clearance
  • CompTIA Security+ or ability to obtain within 1st year
Travel/Location
  • Federal DoD System Field Engineer can live anywhere in the United States within a commutable distance to a major airport
  • Up to 85% travel required
  • Willing to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules

This position may require working in high security areas governed by the CJIS Security Policy and may require fingerprint background checks

Compensation: Target Base Salary Range: $78,000 - $85,000 USD. Pay varies by knowledge, skills, and experience; actual offer based on candidate.
