Job summary

Lodestar Consulting, Inc. is seeking a full-time DEAMS MAJCOM SME to support SAF/FMFO and the DEAMS program. You will bring FM, budgeting, and data analytics expertise to interact with HQ, AF major commands, and bases worldwide for sustainment and day-to-day operations.

The role requires 5+ years in AF Funds Control, Accounting, Financial Analysis, and related fields, plus willingness to travel. You will develop methodologies, tools, and viewpoints related to the DEAMS solution and assist

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of AF Funds Control, Accounting, Financial Analysis, Accounts Payable, DFAS Treasury Reporting, and related areas.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, and audit processes.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data and identify root causes.
  • Familiarity with AF Lines of Accounting and financial data elements.
  • Experience with AF Funds Control, Accounting, Financial Analysis, Accounts Payable, Government Purchase Card, or DFAS.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the initial AFAOC representative to base DEAMS users.
  • Support DFAS and AF DEAMS users with FM questions across AF components.
  • Help resolve DEAMS system-related process issues and guide users through functional processes.
  • Provide analysis and problem resolution for fixes to reported problems.
  • Provide targeted assistance to users based on DEAMS metrics and data analysis results.
  • Deliver ad hoc and on-the-job training to DEAMS users via telephone, video-teleconference, webinar, or on-site visit.
  • Facilitate and promote Strategic Communications/Change Management activities; support DEAMS Help Desk.
  • Participate in DEAMS process improvement workshops identifying gaps and providing solutions to bridge gaps.

This role will serve as a key member of SAF/FMFO interacting with the HQ, other AF major commands, and bases in support of the worldwide sustainment and day-to-day operations of DEAMS. The candidate will provide a broad range of FM expertise including data analytics, budget formulation and execution, and will assist project teams. The candidate will also develop and support applicable methodologies, tools, approaches, and points of view related to the DEAMS solution This role shall involve, but is not limited to:

Responsibilities
  • Act as the initial AFAOC representative to base DEAMS users
  • Support DFAS and AF (AD, AFRC & ANG) DEAMS users with FM questions
  • Help resolve DEAMS system-related process issues and guide users through functional processes impacted by the system
  • Provide analysis and problem resolution for fixes to reported problems
  • Provide targeted assistance to users based on DEAMS metrics, recurring critical task results, and results of other data analysis
  • Provide ad hoc and on-the-job training to DEAMS users via telephone, video-teleconference, webinar, or on-site visit (when local), to include general training and functional problem areas
  • Facilitate and promote Strategic Communications/Change Management activities
    Provide support to the DEAMS Help Desk, e.g., surge and end-of-year processes
  • Participate in DEAMS process improvement workshops identifying gaps, and providing solutions to bridge gaps and enhance processes
Requirements
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in AF Funds Control, Accounting, Financial Analysis, Accounts Payable, Defense Finance and Accounting Service Treasury Reporting, General Funds and Working Capital Funds
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, and audit processes
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data and identify root causes
  • Detailed familiarity with AF Lines of Accounting and financial data elements
  • Experience in AF Funds Control, Accounting, Financial Analysis, Accounts Payable, Government Purchase Card, or Defense Finance and Accounting Service
  • The successful candidate must also be willing and able to travel as required or to support sustainment activities for their MAJCOM/Command of assignment
  • Knowledge of AF legacy systems such as the Integrated Accounts Payable System (IAPS), the Standard Base Supply System (SBSS), the Standard Materiel Accounting System (SMAS), the General Accounting and Finance System (GAFS), the Reserve Travel System (RTS), the Automated Business Service System (ABSS), the Commander's Resource Integration System (CRIS), and the Intra-governmental Payment and Collection (IPAC) a plus
  • Experience dealing with Status of Fund (SOF), Open Document Listing (ODL), Selective Transaction History (STH), Outstanding Travel Orders and Advances, and Cash Balancing
  • Ability to brief and communicate effectively with senior leaders and managers
Desired Skills
  • Familiarity with AF Lines of Accounting and financial data elements
  • Experience reconciling contract / obligation documents
  • Experience reviewing miscellaneous collection and disbursement vouchers
  • Experience reconciling D-to-O balancing
  • Experience reviewing an Open Document Listing
  • Experience researching dormant obligations
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Azure, or High bond

Education
  • BA/BS degree from an accredited college/university in Accounting or Business Administration with a major in Accounting
Security Clearance
  • Must have an Active DoD Secret Security Clearance (requires U.S. Citizenship).

The expected total compensation range for this position is between $110,000 and $150,000. This range is representative of base pay only and does not include, company contributions towards paid benefits, and/or bonuses. Actual compensation (meeting or exceeding the range) will be determined based on specific experience, education, work location, clearance level, and other factors permitted by law. This position is eligible for bonuses (when applicable).
