Job summary

Workday Government seeks a seasoned data privacy and cybersecurity attorney to support federal contracts and FedRAMP authorization. You will guide compliance across the data lifecycle, draft and negotiate government contracts, and advise executive leadership on risk and governance in a high-stakes federal context.

The role requires 8+ years of experience, a J.D., and deep knowledge of U.S. privacy/security frameworks, with on-site duties in the DMV area.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of U.S. federal privacy and security frameworks (FISMA, NIST 800-53/171, CMMC) and related standards.
• Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills for data processing agreements and government contracts.

Responsibilities

• Serve as lead counsel on data privacy and cybersecurity matters across the data lifecycle.
• Own the legal strategy for FedRAMP authorization and ATO processes.
• Advise on DoD IL2–IL6 requirements including data separation and personnel screening.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, DPAs, and government contract vehicles with FAR/DFARS clauses.
• Monitor regulatory developments and translate them into practical guidance.
• Lead incident response for data breaches and coordinate with security and outside counsel.
• Advise executives on data governance, risk management, and product implications.
