Job summary

The U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services Office for the Middle District of Tennessee seeks a Budget Analyst to support financial operations in Nashville, reporting to the Court Unit Executive.

The Budget Analyst processes a high volume of transactions, interprets complex rules, maintains internal controls, and delivers accurate financial statements and reports. This role supports budget preparation, accounts payable/receivable, and policy development while providing professional, client-focused

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a closely related field.
• One year of specialized experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Extraordinary attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Spatial reasoning skills.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to deal with a wide variety of people, tactfully and courteously.
• Ability to use independent judgment.
• Availability to occasionally work overtime and overnight travel.

Responsibilities

• Process a high volume of financial transactions accurately.
• Prepare, update, and process accounting records, financial statements, reports.
• Oversee budget preparation, accounts payable and receivable activities.
• Conduct internal controls reviews and develop improvement recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with guidelines, policies, and internal controls.
• Assist in procurement-related duties and support financial systems (JIFMS, JFinSys, ACR).
