Job summary

Center for American Progress seeks a Policy Analyst to join its Energy and Environment department and conduct research and analysis related to energy and climate. The ideal analyst is a team player with strong writing and project management skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to addressing climate change and advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in policy.

The position reports to the Associate Director of Federal Climate Policy on the Climate and Energy team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in energy and/or climate policy or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • Strong writing, verbal communication, and the ability to explain policy matters to nonpolicy audiences.
  • Quantitative skills and ability to work with large datasets and charts; attention to detail.
  • Ability to independently manage projects from conception to completion and coordinate with partners.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative research; analyze pending state and federal legislative proposals, administrative policies, and regulatory changes; provide research support for the Energy and Environment department.
  • Partner with organizations, researchers, advocates, and internal policy teams to advance research and policy priorities.
  • Develop, implement, and manage production and distribution of reports, briefs, columns, social media posts, fact sheets, and other articles.
  • Represent American Progress in external meetings with Capitol Hill staff, coalitions, and media contacts.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in assigned focus areas, particularly in the power sector.
  • Assist in coordination and planning of meetings/events and coalition work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
