Job summary

Peraton is seeking to fill a critical role for a full-time background investigator near Riverside, CA. Applicants must reside within 40 miles of the city center of Riverside and be able to travel locally for in-person investigations.

You will complete a 6-7 week training to become certified in the Federal Investigative Standards, conduct interviews, perform records checks, and report findings in government systems. Work independently and as part of a team under a Field Manager.

Qualifications

• 4 years of general work experience or a bachelor’s degree.
• Must obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance; active clearance preferred.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Daily travel locally and beyond the primary work area as needed.
• Home office required; TDY travel 14–30 days may be required.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; driving required.
• Accurate typing and ability to use multiple computer programs.
• Strong written and verbal communication; high-quality report writing.

Responsibilities

• Complete a 6–7 week full-time training to be certified in Federal Investigative Standards.
• Travel daily to conduct in-person background investigations to assess employment suitability for sensitive government information.
• Schedule and conduct face-to-face interviews with subjects, neighbors, employers, and others.
• Perform records searches at police, courts, educational, financial, and health facilities.
• Type and report all findings clearly in government systems.
• Work independently while also collaborating with a team and Field Manager.
