Job summary

Peraton is seeking a full-time background investigator near Memphis, TN. Applicants must reside within 25 miles of Memphis city center and be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance. The role involves in-person investigations supporting federal standards and requires extensive travel and meticulous reporting.

You will complete a training program, conduct interviews, perform records searches, and report findings using government systems, working both independently and with a team under supervision.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.
• Residence within 25 miles of Memphis city center.
• Daily local travel and potential TDY travel as needed.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Adept at typing, reporting, and working with multiple computer programs.
• Strong writing, confidentiality and professional conduct expected.

Responsibilities

• Complete a full-time 6–7 week training to certify under Federal Investigative Standards.
• Travel daily for in-person background investigations to assess employment suitability.
• Schedule and conduct face-to-face interviews with subjects, neighbors and references.
• Perform record searches at police, courts, schools, banks and medical facilities.
• Type and report information clearly into government systems.
• Work independently and as part of a team under a Field Manager.
