Job summary

HESFP, LLC, part of Cherokee Federal, is seeking an AWS Engineer to design, deploy, and support secure, scalable AWS cloud solutions for a federal client. The role emphasizes IaC, CI/CD, cloud security, and DevOps in a regulated environment.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of AWS experience, strong cloud engineering skills, and familiarity with FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, and related government governance requirements. U.S. citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with preferred study in CS/IS/Engineering and 5+ years of experience; 7+ years may substitute education.
• Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining AWS cloud infrastructure for federal/public sector.
• Hands-on AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, ECS/EKS.
• Experience with infrastructure as code (CloudFormation, Terraform, AWS CDK).
• Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines and DevOps automation.
• Strong cloud security, networking, and IAM in regulated environments.
• Experience with FedRAMP/ATO/NIST 800-53 compliance preferred.
• AWS certifications preferred.
• Salesforce experience a bonus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to brief government stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain secure, scalable AWS infrastructure for government missions.
• Work with government leads to clarify requirements and release timing.
• Architect and implement AWS solutions using EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, ECS/EKS.
• Build and manage IaC using CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS CDK.
• Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines (CodePipeline, Jenkins, GitLab CI).
• Implement monitoring with CloudWatch/CloudTrail, ensuring health and performance.
• Ensure security/compliance with FedRAMP, ATO, NIST 800-53.
• Configure networking, security groups, encryption, and identity/access controls.
• Provide executive briefings and prepare technical summaries.
