Job summary

Larson Design Group, Inc. is seeking an Architectural Project Manager - Federal Projects to lead complex federal architectural initiatives from planning to closeout.

You will oversee multidisciplinary teams, manage budgets over $1 million, and ensure adherence to federal standards and PMI guidelines. The role emphasizes client-facing leadership, risk management, and quality control to deliver on scope and schedule while maintaining strong client satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of job-related experience, preferably in the A/E industry.
  • Certifications: PE, RA, or PMP certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage comprehensive project management plans aligned with federal agency requirements and industry best practices.
  • Coordinate architectural, engineering, and consultant teams with federal clients and stakeholders.
  • Lead all project lifecycle phases: initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, controlling, closeout per PMI and federal standards.
  • Define and control project scope using formal change management; document cost, schedule, and risk impacts.
  • Develop and maintain detailed schedules; track milestones and agency submissions.
  • Manage cost estimating, budgeting, financial forecasting, and Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Collaborate with teams to implement cost control strategies and optimize value.
  • Manage contract administration with federal contracting officers and negotiate modifications.
  • Establish and maintain QA/QC standards meeting federal regulations and firm requirements.
  • Conduct quality audits, implement corrective actions for continuous improvement.
  • Staffing, resource allocation, and workload balance across the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and execute project communication plans with federal clients and stakeholders.
  • Prepare clear status reports addressing progress, financials, risks, and issues.
  • Identify, assess, mitigate project risks; maintain risk registers and mitigation plans.
  • Support procurement activities, including consultant selection and contract coordination.
  • Build strong relationships with federal clients and drive repeat work.
  • Lead with integrity and accountability; mentor associate project managers.
