Job summary

U.S. Coast Guard in Cape May, NJ seeks a GS-0808-12 Architect to support the TRACEN Cape May Design and Construction office. The role requires formal education in architecture and specialized experience related to building design and construction management.

Qualifications

  • Degree: architecture or related field including 60 semester hours in architecture or related disciplines, with 30 in architectural design and 6 semester hours in each of structural technology, materials and construction, and environmental control systems.
  • Combination of education and experience accepted if it provides knowledge of architecture principles and techniques.
  • At least 1 year of specialized experience or substitution of education for experience; transcripts required.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop construction drawings and specifications for architectural systems using industry standard software.
  • Manage or lead significant phases of construction projects, including new construction, repair, renovation or restoration.
  • Apply architectural and related engineering concepts to solve design and construction problems and adapt standards as needed.
  • Evaluate planning projects for technical validity, feasibility, and produce clear analytical or design reports.
