Job summary

Transportation Security Administration seeks Federal Air Marshals to protect commercial flights from terrorism and other threats. Duties include operating aboard aircraft, assessing incidents, and enforcing federal law with firearms proficiency and discretion.

Eligibility: three years of relevant experience or a bachelor’s degree (or combination), U.S. citizenship, ability to obtain Top Secret clearance, and willingness to travel on short notice.

Qualifications

• Three years of progressively responsible experience (problem-solving, planning, organization, written and verbal communication).
• A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• A qualifying combination of post-secondary education and relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Protect commercial flights from terrorism, aircraft piracy, and other threats.
• Work discreetly aboard domestic and international flights.
• Assess situations and respond with limited backup.
• Carry firearms and maintain proficiency for federal duties.
• Conduct investigations, interviews, and advisory activities as needed.
• Identify witnesses or suspects and, when required, make arrests or seek warrants.
• Participate in multi-agency operations with other law enforcement partners.
• Support ground security and counterterrorism missions.
