Job summary

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) seeks Federal Air Marshals to protect commercial aviation from terrorism, aircraft piracy, and other threats. FAMs operate on and off aircraft, applying discretion, judgment, and firearms proficiency to safeguard passengers, crews, airports, and the transportation system.

Opportunities are based in various field offices, with assignments that may require irregular schedules, frequent travel, and on-call duties.

Qualifications

• Three years of progressively responsible experience or a bachelor's degree or higher, or a qualifying combination of post-secondary education and relevant experience
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national
• Must pass background investigation, drug screening, medical evaluation, polygraph, and obtain security clearance

Responsibilities

• Protect commercial passenger flights from terrorism, aircraft piracy, and other threats
• Work discreetly aboard domestic and international flights
• Assess situations and respond to potential threats with limited backup
• Carry a firearm and maintain firearms proficiency
• Conduct law enforcement, investigative, analytical, and advisory activities
• Identify witnesses or suspects when required
• Possess mobility and travel as required
