Job summary

Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is seeking Federal Air Marshals to protect commercial flights from terrorism and other threats. Roles involve high‑visibility security work aboard flights, with emphasis on discretion, judgment, and fitness to meet demanding conditions.

Applicants must meet strict eligibility: U.S. citizenship, minimum age, background checks, and security clearance; duties include travel, irregular hours, and continuous readiness for mission assignments.

Qualifications

• Three years of progressively responsible experience demonstrating problem solving, planning, organization, and communication.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university; or a qualifying combination of post‑secondary education and relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Protect commercial passenger flights from terrorism, aircraft piracy, and other threats.
• Work discreetly aboard domestic and international flights.
• Assess situations and respond with limited backup.
• Carry a firearm and maintain firearms proficiency.
• Conduct investigations, interviews, and advisory activities.
• Identify witnesses or suspects and make arrests when required.
• Participate in multi‑agency operations with federal, state, and local partners.
• Support ground security and counterterrorism missions.
• Perform other specialized assignments, including Counter‑Unmanned Aircraft Systems.
