Job summary

Transportation Security Administration (TSA), part of the Department of Homeland Security, seeks Federal Air Marshals to protect commercial aviation. Duties include discreetly operating on flights, assessing threats, and applying law enforcement procedures in high‑pressure environments.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens, at least 21, and able to obtain a Top Secret clearance; readiness for irregular schedules, travel, and temporary assignments is required. Training is provided after selection.

Qualifications

• Three years of progressively responsible experience that demonstrates problem-solving, planning, organization, and effective written and verbal communication.
• A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. national; able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
• Able to pass drug screening, medical evaluation, and polygraph examination; possess firearm credentials.

Responsibilities

• Protect commercial passenger flights from terrorist activity and other threats.
• Work aboard domestic and international flights in a discreet capacity.
• Assess situations and respond to potential threats with limited backup.
• Carry a firearm and maintain firearms proficiency.
• Engage in law enforcement, investigative, and advisory activities as required.
• Identify and interview witnesses or suspects when required.
• Make arrests and execute warrants within legal authority.
• Coordinate with multi-agency partners on operations.
• Support ground-based transportation-security and counterterrorism missions.
